Manipulation Techniques

Spinal manipulative techniques are forms of physical medicine that work to enable the body's own healing abilities by removing impediments, such as nerve compression, by manipulating the spinal vertebrae back into their proper position.

At Chiropractor Plus in Nixa, Dr. Hunter Greenwood DC ND uses both chiropractic adjustments and naturopathic manipulative treatments (NMT), including techniques he has developed himself during his 40 years of practice, to relieve pain, correct structural imbalances and improve function.

Manual Manipulations on the Thompson Drop Table

For manual (hands on) chiropractic adjusting and NMT, Dr. Hunter Greenwood utilizes the Thompson Drop Table, which runs on air pressure and allows greater comfort for the patient when adjusting or working on structural imbalances to improve blood flow.

The patient begins by standing at the table, which will drop them slowly into a horizontal position. Dr. Greenwood may have them face forwards, backwards, or sideways, depending on the type of manipulation he is going to perform.

When the patient is laying face down, Dr. Greenwood can set the appropriate drop pieces on the table to the patient's weight and set it to drop slightly as he thrusts on the spine. This dropping enhances the motion of the segment of the spine which is manipulated, generally the mid-back, low back or pelvic area, allowing movement with less force, which is easier for the patient. This allows Dr. Greenwod, your Nixa chiropactor, to manipulate the spinal veterbra back into their proper position, relieving pressure on the nerves that exit between the vertebra.

Low Force Manipulation on the Cox Flexion Distraction Table

The Cox Flexion Distraction Table flexes, extends, rotates and decompresses the spinal area as desired for correction. Dr. Greenwood adapts the abilities of the table to the specific needs of each patient., providing decompression and allowing for gentle movement of the spinal vertebra.

Research has shown that flexion distraction and decompression helps relieve pain and return patients to health by lowering pressure where the spinal nerves exit the spine, widening the spinal canal foraminal area, and returning motion to the spinal joints.

There are other flexion distraction table, but the Cox Table is the most advanced table of its kind, enabling the doctor to help you return to health faster and more completely. Dr. Greenwood is the only Nixa chiropractor or Springfield chiropractor that offers this amazing table.

PulStar Computerized Instrument System

The PulStar Computerized System allows for multiple precise, gentle instrument manipulation, making it an excellent choice for patients who prefer a gentle, non-manual, effective solution for their pain.

Dr. Greenwood adapts the weight and amplitude of multiple gentle force impulses to help move and release the spinal subluxation complex and, relieve pain, removing restrictions and restoring health.

Dr. Greenwood guides the Pulstar instrument, with a two-pronged head, along your spine. The instrument sends out gentle pulses, and the sensor evaluates resistance and sends that information to the computer. When spinal segmental motion is restored, the impulses automatically stop. This allows your Nixa chiropractor to move the vertebra without a sudden thrust movement.

Chiropractor Plus is the only chiropractor in Nixa or chiropractor in Springfield that offers this wonderful system.
